Background of the study
Hashtag campaigns have emerged as powerful instruments in Nigerian political discourse, significantly influencing morphosyntactic patterns on Twitter. These campaigns mobilize users around political causes, and the accompanying language reflects a hybridization of formal and informal structures. Twitter users, driven by political fervor, often employ truncated sentences, creative punctuation, and unconventional syntactic constructions to convey solidarity and urgency (Okeke, 2023). This study explores how political hashtag campaigns transform morphosyntax by challenging standard grammatical conventions and introducing new linguistic forms. The research examines the syntactic innovations and morphological adaptations that arise within tweets associated with political movements, highlighting the role of digital media in reconfiguring language (Ibrahim, 2024). By focusing on Twitter, the study delves into how concise expressions and rallying cries contribute to a dynamic morphosyntactic landscape, reflecting broader sociopolitical trends and the mobilizing power of digital activism (Afolabi, 2023).
Statement of the problem
Despite the significant influence of hashtag campaigns on digital language, there is a scarcity of research on their morphosyntactic impact in Nigerian political discourse on Twitter. Existing studies often overlook the structural modifications that arise from political mobilization, focusing instead on content analysis. This gap prevents a comprehensive understanding of how morphosyntactic changes contribute to political expression online (Chukwu, 2024). The study aims to address this limitation by systematically examining the linguistic shifts associated with hashtag campaigns in political movements, thereby elucidating their broader implications for language evolution (Okeke, 2023).

Research questions
Significance of the study
This study is significant as it investigates the transformative role of hashtag campaigns in shaping morphosyntax within Nigerian political discourse. The findings will contribute to our understanding of digital language change and inform both linguistic theory and political communication strategies (Okeke, 2023).
Scope and limitations of the study
This study focuses on Twitter and the morphosyntactic impact of political hashtag campaigns. It does not extend to other social media platforms or non-political hashtag movements.
